Welcome to Kalevan Navetta’s afterwork events, where you can enjoy art, culture, and culinary experiences once a month on Fridays! The Afterwork Art events include free admission to Kunsthalle Seinäjoki and a monthly changing art and culture program. On the first Friday of October, Avara Afterwork Art celebrates diversity and freedom of expression through art and culture.

16:00–18:00 Workshop: Avara Keychain
Kässä rooms 2–3, 1st Floor
At this workshop, you can make your own unique keychain out of shrink plastic. In the workshop, you’ll draw designs on the shrink plastic and watch as it shrinks in the oven.
- Children under school age can make a keychain together with an adult.
- This free workshop operates on a non-stop basis.
- Making a keychain takes about 20 minutes.
17:00–20:00 Workshop: The Handbook
Kammio, 1st floor
“Handbook” is a multidisciplinary workshop aimed at families with children, centered on the hands and everything they can do: draw, move, craft, build, tell stories, communicate, and care for others. In the workshop, different art forms come together through collaborative creation and creative exploration.
Participants will work on an interactive “Handbook” zine, and they can continue the activities at home. The workshop encourages children and adults to create and learn together, as well as to use their own native languages. Finnish, English, Ukrainian, and Russian are used during the activities.
- The workshop is held on a drop-in basis, so you can join at any time during the event.
- The workshop is made possible by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
17:30–17:50 Poetry performance by Satu Kankaanpää

Satu Kankaanpää, from Seinäjoki, is a sign language poet and she has been performing since 2019. Satu’s poems are visual, physical, and expressive. In her performance, Kankaanpää guides the audience into the fascinating dimensions of sign language poetry and visual language, and presents poems that combine visual music and dance.
18:00–19:00 Joose Ojala Trio
Hugo Hall, 2nd floor
Joose Ojala Trio’s music combines the best elements of gypsy swing and accordion jazz traditions. The program consists of fresh arrangements of standards by masters of the genre such as Gus Viseur, Sivuca, Matti Viljanen, Django Reinhardt, and Stéphane Grappelli. These are complemented by Joose Ojala’s original compositions, influenced by world music.
